Not only it is an EXCELLENT RPG (well, depends on your definition of RPG. And it's not every day I don't only mumble about how 2D looks so much better when I'm speaking of a 3D game. Look for my bloodlines review in the review topic sometime (early) next year. As I have a more than valid reason to need a new one of those, I'll just be sure to get a gaming one while I'm at it. I may not be able to upgrade my comp for a while, but my laptop exploded. I bought this recently, but can't really run memory leak source on my comp. It ain't exactly Half-Life, but it doesn't go close to the true pits of mediocrity that Hellgate London resides in. In retrospect, I don't even think the shooter elements were as bad as their reputation.
It's a shame that the filler content contrasts so much against the 'made with love' bits that it becomes glaringly obvious. in short, it has all the makings of a great game. It has the best 'virtual actor' interaction I've seen, excellent writing, good quest design, the Ocean House Hotel, a great spread of useful skills. Like everyone else, I went with just shy of great.
